Cookie policy

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and run core application features.

How we use cookies

Scanpubs uses cookies and related technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary: authentication tokens, session security, load balancing, CSRF protection, and checkout flows. These are required for the app to function; blocking them may prevent sign-in or payments.
  • Preferences: choices such as theme (light/dark), region or currency display where stored locally, and UI state that improves your experience.
  • Analytics: understanding how features are used in aggregate (for example page views, errors, and performance) so we can improve reliability. We aim to avoid collecting unnecessary personal data in analytics.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies may be set by trusted partners when you use embedded services, for example:

  • Payment providers during checkout (for example Razorpay)
  • Analytics or error-monitoring tools we configure on the site

Those partners have their own privacy and cookie policies. We encourage you to review them when you interact with their flows.

Duration

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies and local storage entries may remain for a defined period (for example to keep you signed in for up to thirty days) or until you clear them. Security and authentication cookies use the shortest practical lifetime.

Managing cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through settings. You can also use private browsing modes. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will limit or break parts of Scanpubs, including account access and paid features.

Where we offer in-product controls (for example theme or region), using those settings may reduce reliance on certain preference cookies.

Do Not Track

There is no uniform industry standard for “Do Not Track” signals. We currently do not respond to DNT headers in a specific way beyond the choices described here and in our Privacy policy.

Updates and contact

When we materially change how we use cookies, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Questions? Email contact@scanpubs.com.
